Nutrition and Diabetes Management

“Let your food be your medicine and let your medicine be your food.” —Hippocrates

Welcome!  Congratulations on taking the first step to better health and vitality!  Our mission at Integrated Health Concepts is to bring compassionate, individualized care to people—to help empower individuals toward better health by helping them see the relationship between spiritual balance, emotional balance, and true well-being.  Whether you are experiencing spiritual, emotional and/or physical complications, the foundation for healing begins with your diet or the foods you choose every day that go into your body.   Our approach to health and wellness is very unique at Integrated Health Concepts.  Dr. Schrenker is board certified in Family and Holistic medicine.  The combination of these two certifications offers a tremendous opportunity for you as a patient here.  He has had extensive training in conventional and alternative therapy.  His knowledge of nutrition is expansive.

Our registered dietitian and diabetes educator will help educate and motivate you to a healthier life.  Nutritional therapy is more than someone telling you what to eat.  The foods that one person likes may not be the foods that you like.  Our job is to help you determine what your diet lacks and assist you in making modifications.  Nutritional therapy also includes the use of a wide array of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbs, and other naturally occurring compounds.

You ARE what you eat.

If you choose poor quality foods (i.e. processed, high sugar content, high fat content, high salt content) then consumption of these foods will eventually manifest into diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity, cancer, etc.  The opposite is true if you eat natural, whole foods.  Many studies have shown that people who consume mostly fruits, vegetables and whole grains prevent or reverse these chronic illnesses.  It has also been shown that diet can be more effective than medications in treatment of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc.  At Integrated Health Concepts, we believe eating a “clean” diet composed of whole, plant-based foods is the most protective thing YOU can do to combat many diseases.
